Self-Awareness in 15 Minutes: The Friday Brain Bites Series

One Question Changed Curtis' Life. This Is Where You Learn It.

Somebody in your life experiences a different version of you than the one you intend. At work, that gap shows up in an exit interview, a lost promotion, or a meeting that goes quiet when you speak. At home, it shows up in a silence that used to be a friendship. Self-awareness closes that gap before it costs you something.

Every Friday through August 7, I am hosting Brain Bites. Each session is a free 15-minute Zoom on self-awareness and leadership of the self. One idea. One story. One action you can use before your next meeting or your next hard conversation.

That is the whole format. You bring 15 minutes and one honest answer. You leave with something you can use the same day.

Why Self-Awareness Comes First

Every leadership skill sits on one foundation. Delegation, feedback, influence, decision-making: each depends on how clearly you see yourself. Because if you misread your own patterns, you misread everyone else's too.

And you do not need a title for this to matter. The same skill that steadies a manager steadies a parent, a partner, a teammate, a friend. Self-awareness is leadership of the self first. Everything else is downstream.

The research backs this up. Organizational psychologist Dr. Tasha Eurich found that 95 percent of people believe they are self-aware. Her studies show only 10 to 15 percent actually are. That gap is where careers stall, teams go quiet, and relationships drift.

The good news: self-awareness is a skill, not a personality trait. You can practice it. These sessions show you how, 15 minutes at a time.

What Happens in a Brain Bite

Each Friday covers one self-awareness concept from my ebook, Minutes Matter. I tell a short story, explain the idea, then give you one action to try before Monday. There is time for questions at the end.

No login maze, no workbook to print, no homework. Just show up with a pen.

Each session stands on its own. Come to one, or come to all eight.

Who These Sessions Are For

Anyone who leads, including people without a title yet. Managers navigating change. New supervisors finding their footing. Parents, coaches, and volunteers who influence people every day.

And some people arrive with no team at all. They come because they want to understand themselves better: their reactions, their patterns, the habits they keep tripping over. That counts. Improving the self is the whole starting point of this work. If your behavior affects other humans, or just your own peace of mind, this material applies to you.

Where This Comes From

The content draws on Minutes Matter and the frameworks behind it: the Johari Window model from Luft and Ingham, Viktor Frankl's writing on choice, and Dr. Tasha Eurich's research on self-awareness. I have taught this material in workshops with corporate teams, community groups, and virtual audiences.

If a session sparks something and you want more depth, the 45-minute Lead Yourself First workshop builds on the same foundation. No pressure either way. The Friday sessions are complete on their own.

That reaction is where we start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really free? Yes. No credit card, no trial, no upsell mid-session. The Friday Brain Bites are free, period. If you later want to go deeper, the 45-minute Lead Yourself First workshop is there. Nobody will chase you about it.

Do I need to attend all eight sessions? No. Each session stands on its own with one complete idea and one action. Come to one, come to three, come to all eight. Attending the full series builds the strongest foundation, but you will leave any single Friday with something you can use that day.

Will the sessions be recorded? The sessions run live so people can ask questions in real time. Register once and you get the link for every Friday, so if you miss a week, just join the next one.
